Here we sit in an autoshop in Seattle, WA where we just found out we need a new transmission. Enjoying the rain, just pimped out our knowledge points with Spread the Love, got a parking ticket, Mary’s bra strap broke this morning, (lol!) and chatted with some inspiring photographers. It has been a busy day and a half, but we’ve been laughing a lot at the entire situation. I mean really-what else can you do?
So much thanks to Justin & Mary Marantz for their time, attention, and spirit. (Found via twitter!) If you’re on their path, Denver is next and all you talented, seasoned and starting-out KC photographers should get in on their group on February 19th! It was our first photo-biz-learning experience, and such a great way for us to dive into the workshop world. We have several pages of notes, a churning mind, and renewed sense of drive from the experience. Not to mention a parking ticket, but we blame ourselves for losing track of time! (Wrapped up at 9:30; parking ticket at 9:00. It was kind of ironic.)
Continuing on in our twitter-sponsored adventure, we headed to our hotel to have the car shudder and come to a stop. It started again, but still kinda limping, so we’re chilling in an auto shop! The highlight of our morning was having breakfast with, Ben Blood and James Moes. If you have not checked them out, get ready to procrastinate on whatever else you had on your list for the next hour; their work is so goose-bump-worthy and narrative. Last shout-out on this Show & Tell Friday is to Julie Harmsen for doing something as simple as replying to our “Any good mechanic recs in Seattle?” on Twitter. Having been here like twice, we were so grateful to have a connection-even a remote one through a this weird social media thing that has managed to play a part in our real life. Also-if you haven’t noticed, Seattle is just filled with some amazingly talented photographers!
And without this great story, the only post today would’ve been this video: A Sunrise. Normally, we are up until the sunrise if we see one, but this morning last weekend, we got up for the sunrise. You’ll see us playing on the buildings a bit; maybe we should do that more next-time. Some puppets or something. Of course, if we were up that early, we had to grab some Voodoo Doughnuts.
Above is the city we live in, as well as our first attempt at stop motion play.
