Kelty & Justin Celebrate 10 Years with their Favorites

When two people just want to share an open space, eat good food, hear good music, and toast the ones they love. Sans the ceremony.
We have been delaying sharing this with everyone as we thought we’d be hit with a muse that can beautifully describe this day. It didn’t happen. Instead we are still left marinating in the dancing, the celebration, the beauty of a sheared field, all contrasted with their days spent in a hospital praying for a loved one given a 10% chance. Leaves us with an inadequate combinations of words.
Remembered that we did write this to them, and thought it would be good to share. Hannah (Kelty’s doppelgänger sister, AKA “twin”) had sent out a request to all the guests. “We’d like to invite you all to jot us an email with your top five favorite moments/memories from the weekend. They can be bullet points or paragraphs, personal observations or grand generalizations…. Whatever you’d like to share with them.”
Here were our responses:
. . . .
Kelty & Hannah are purveyors of pretty over at The Weaver House. Justin pulls edibles from the dirt where there used to just be rocks. David Wax Museum played incredible music late into the night, Navarre served beautiful meats, veggies, and breads and used as many of Justin’s veggies as possible, The Green Dandelion brought beautiful texture, color combinations in the florals, and Tender Bar served up boozy delight from local distilleries mixed with custom syrups. Friends enthusiastically worked beside them throughout the week and weekend to make this day possible.
Her aunt (one leg down) is doing well and back home in Spain. Kelty + Hannah are there now as she returns to enjoying everyday life.
Some of their images are down below, more can be found in their gallery. There is a mix of 35mm (mostly double exposure) + digital images.

Bridget + Dan, Eloped Near a Barn
Maybe getting married could be a simple ceremony surrounded by family. A friend could wrangle the dogs, then you could say bye to everyone and escape to have champagne by yourselves on a freezing patio in the middle of winter. Return later for a dance party with your friends, complete with shenanigans in a make-shift photobooth. Perhaps a beard or two could be present. This is what these friends did on their day before they headed across the country to live in a 13′ trailer on some land in wine country; with those same three, large indoor dogs. Ever since, they’ve been living a life that emphasizes what’s important, learning what they don’t need along the way, and were the happiest they’ve ever been at a time when they had the least. We look at these pictures sometimes when we are feeling lost in to-do lists, and overwhelmed by computerized tasks. Just realized we’d never shared them, and thought maybe someone else would like to look at them and do the same.

Thai Cooking with Oom

If you take a thai food cooking class while on a cleanse that forbids everything you’re making and still think it was amazing, it was probably with Oom. Seriously, we were eating almonds as everyone was eating Pad Thai, egg rolls, and sticky rice with egg custard. But it was such a great experience, and can’t wait for her to do more of these classes. Will be held in the Portland area, intimate numbers, and authentic Thai cooking that, if nothing else, will make you really appreciate the work behind your next take-out order. We’ll share the info/links as they become available via Facebook.

Amanda + Chris : Geologists Married on a Volcano

“We met in grad school at Ohio University and wound up in Ft. Collins, Colorado where we both consume more beer than two people probably ever should. We are both geologists and thought it would be fun to get married on top of a volcano. Everyone will be transported up to the hut on the mountain via snow cat.” And then we googled what a snow cat was, and immediately giggled in delight. On the way down the mountain at the end of the night, we fit about 20 people into a snow cat that really only should’ve held 10; it was a good day.
