The Scene: Time for the vows, storm is moving in overhead while sun is shining through. Michelle and Doug are fairly recent parents who’ve had an Isla together. (The cute one inserting foot into mouth during the ceremony. Literally.)

Michelle: “Doug, when I first saw you back in that bar. Sitting there with your ‘fro…”
Doug: “Michelle, we’ve been spending a lot of time together…”

These two, and their genetic cocktail-Isla, have experienced a few chapters in front of our cameras. We were so glad to play a roll of their wedding; they inspire us to dance more, hug longer, and maybe have a kid. (Or some sweet cowboy boots…those definitely seem more feasible right now.) So grateful for the day(s) in their lives they let us document.

Thanks to the illustrating skillz of Jamie, we were able to impromptu-ly design the program fans for them. (We make sound effects for the little Isla bird.) One last thing we thought you’d like to know: “Bump” by Spank Rock was the last song of the night. (Which is hilariously awesome, and has become a new fave during editing parties here.)

*Insert happy dance* Mary placed with two images in the last WPJA contest of 2009! The first in Bride Getting Ready took 8th place, and the second in Found Details took 15th! Not to shabby considering it was vs. the world and some of the best photojournalists around! Maybe now she will get on it and finish up her bio on their site. This is definite cause for celebration; and possibly a beer! Good thing it’s St. Patrick’s Day.

JUDGES COMMENTS: “This one stood out because it’s just so different, a vintage photo and the angle to the light helps you to see exactly what’s being seen by the subject of the picture.”

JUDGES COMMENTS: “Very delicate image that uses color and light very nicely to display a detail important to the bride.”

With all the website, behind the scenes, travel stuff we’ve been doing lately, we have some catching up to do with ACTUAL images of people! *yay!* So we’ll be catching up on that as well as a few weddings we still need to blog about. Here is a peek at little Isla. If she looks familiar, you may recognize her parents.

Been doing a little pre-spring cleaning of images lately. Here are a few from the summer when our friend Angie made the trek to Portland from Denver. This was up on Mt. Tabor, checking out the view of the city. We can hardly wait till it’s outside-frolicking time again! (As well as hoping she makes it back for a longer visit!) If anyone needs a 24-hour slap-dash tour of the city; let us know as we’re experienced.

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re excited to announce just a photo blog. Not that it hasn’t already been the “fat content cat” of the the litter, already, but this will give more room to blog and stretch our legs. We’ll also try to feature more inspirational goodness. Add this new site to your reader to keep up to date on all things photo-y! (Weddings, portraits, environmentals, featured Portland creatives, cool pictures of our feet, images with heart and laser action. Our new BlueWindowCreative.com home site, *yay!* a separate design site, a design blog, a new invitation site, and finally more galleries here in the LookBook! Yup. We’ve been a bit busy lately, but SO stoked to wrap up these sites for the New Year! Things will be cleaner, more organized, simpler, and now with improved taste! (Licking screens is not Mary and The Joel approved…)
